Regarding Bocale Winery:
Majestically perched with the gently rolling hills of Umbria, the ancient village of Montefalco is one of Central Italy's hidden treasures. Established by the Etruscans, the town boasts both a turbulent political history and deeply rooted passion for the arts. It is also famous for its contributions to viticulture, most particularly as the home of Italy's most structured grape- Sagrantino.
Located just outside the town and near the famous church of Madonna della Stella, Bocale is a small estate fanatically dedicated to the preservation of this noble grape varietal. Operated by the Valentini family for over a century, the winery has become famous for the employment of methods in its farming and vinification techniques that are traditional yet also innovative. Primary focus is given tot he cultivation of top quality fruit using the region's historicaly preferred clones of Sagrantino and Sangiovese, and attention is paid to limit the winery's environmental foot-print. The end results are hand-crafted, uncuous yet heady wines that are extremely complex.
On November 16th of 2017 we will be showcasing the wines of Louis Dressner Selections. James Hallett, of the Cellar Selections division of Major Brands, will be your guide through the exotic and ethereal wines of Louis Dressner, while Chef DeWayne pairs his cuisine with them in a 7 Course tasting. Becky Wasserman & Co was founded in 1979 by Becky Wasserman-Hone, an American expatriate who has lived in Burgundy since 1968. Our company exports wines from small domaines and shippers in Burgundy and other regions who honour their appellations. We do not endorse any single method of vinification or an “ideal” type of wine.
The company has a team of seven, four who sell, three who administer. We lunch together in the office, we all are enthusiastic eaters, we often taste wines which may enter into our portfolio. We follow a simple rule: “If we won't drink it, we won't sell it”.
